8th Cheerleading World Championships 2015 will be held in Berlin (Germany)

The Executive Board of the International Federation of Cheerleading, associate member of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) decided on November 23, 2013 to award the hosting of the 8th Cheerleading World Championships 2015 to the German capital Berlin.  With this decision the World Championships will take place for the second time in Germany following the 5th Cheerleading World Championships 2009 in Bremen.

The World Championships will take place on the third or fourth weekend of November 2015 in the Max-Schmeling-Hall.

In the last year, Berlin has developed as a cheerleading stronghold in Germany. The cheerleading national team which just fell short of winning a medal at the historic and inaugural WDSF World DanceSport Games in Kaohsiung (Chinese Taipei) was composed of cheerleaders from Berlin and Brandenburg. At the recently concluded 7th Cheerleading World Championships in Bangkok (Thailand) on November 23-24, 2013 the German national teams that featured athletes from Berlin won three silver medals; an unprecedented success for Germany.

The European Cheerleading Championships and the German National Championships have already been held at the Max-Schmeling-Hall. On November 30, 2013 the WDSF will hold the World Championships in Latin dancing there.
