Gymnastics and Cheerleading Teams Open PSC-POC Philippine National Games 2012

Over 100 gymnasts and 250 cheerleaders selected from various regions of the country opened the 2nd Philippine National Games on May 15 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila. The event was organized by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP), and GAP-Cheerleading Philippines Federation. Special guests in attendance were POC President, Congressman Jose “Peping” Cojuangco; PSC Chairman Richardo Garcia; and GAP President and former PSC Commissioner Cynthia Carrion.

GAP athletes from mainly 5 disciplines: Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Cheerleading, and Aerobic Gymnastics exhibited special performances for the opening ceremony. Another special exhibition was performed by the UP Pep Squad, the 1st Philippine National Games Cheerleading Championships champion and part of the national team that placed 3rd at the 6th IFC Cheerleading World Championships held in Hong Kong last year.
