Competition Rules and
Safety Regulations

The Cheerleading World Championships

IFC organises a Cheerleading World Championships every 2 (two) years commencing 2001. The competition is fully authorised by the IFC and complies with IFC Rules and Regulations. The competition winners achieve the status of cheerleading world champion.

Qualification & Eligibility for Participation


The IFC full member country
(Temporary and/or non-members may participate only with written permission from the IFC board).

Only 1 (one) national team per category (Cheer-All Female, Cheer-Mixed and Dance) from each country is eligible.
All members of a national team must have the nationality of the country they represent.
All members of a national team must have reached the age of 16 (sixteen) by the day of the competition to participate in the championship.


Categories


Cheerleading

Cheer - All Female
Teams should consist of at least 12 (twelve) members and a maximum of 16 (sixteen) members.

Cheer - Mixed
Teams should consist of at least 12 (twelve) members and a maximum of 16 (sixteen) members. Teams must also have at least 4 (four) female members and at least 1 (one) male member.

Dance

Cheer Dance
Teams should consist of at least 8 (eight) members and a maximum of 16 (sixteen) members.



Competition Method


Determination of the World Champion in each division is decided by the total of two days score.



Judging Method


In accordance with IFC rules.



Competition Area (All Divisions)


The competition area is 12m x 12m.



Timing (All Divisions)


Minimum time: 2 min 15 seconds
Maximum time: 2 min 30 seconds



Cheerleading (Cheer-All Female and Cheer-Mixed)


The routine must include a part in which all members execute a continuation of at least 4 (four) different arm motions simultaneously. The whole team has to perform the same motions. (Claps, clasps, hands on hips/thighs are not acceptable).


The routine must include a minimum of 1 (one) cheer, 1 (one) sideline, 1 (one) jump (all team members must show the same jump) and 1 (one) Cheer dance. All compulsory exercises have to be performed by all participants at the same time or in a ripple

The compulsory cheer/sideline must be performed without music. In addition the routine must include at least 1 (one) stunt and 1 (one) pyramid.


Safety Guidelines


Cheer must follow the IFC Safety Guidelines, any violation of the stated Safety Guideline will be penalised with a deduction of points and in severe cases disqualification.

Dress code

For safety reasons the cheerleading uniform and shoes must meet the requirements of IFC Standards for Uniform and Shoes and/or have been examined and approved by the IFC.


Dance


Execute any type of dance routine. The routine may encompass a variety of dance styles such as (but not limited to) jazz, funk, pop, lyrical, novelty etc.

A minimum of 1 (one) double pirouette, high-kicks, 1 (one) split front or side and 2 (two) jumps (all team members must show the same jumps) and 1 (one) leap (all team members must show the same leap) must be performed in the routine.

Poms must be used continuously by all participants for 1/3 (one third) of the routine time.

Props (except poms) are prohibited.

Cheers, chants, stunts, tumbling, pyramids and acrobatics (hips must not rotate over the shoulders) are prohibited.

All compulsory exercises have to be performed by all Participants at the same time or in a ripple.
